The Tale of the Amaranth Angel

They say there was once an angel born not of heaven’s command but of the first tear shed by the world itself. Her wings bore the weight of sunrise and dusk, her skin shimmered like starlight over water, yet her eyes were veiled by a blindfold of shadow, so that she might never look too closely upon sorrow, nor see her own reflection in it.

The angel wandered across meadows where flowers bloomed and withered in the same breath, carrying a staff carved from the spine of dawn. Wherever she walked, blossoms bent toward her, but none could remain.

Mortals who glimpsed her said she was searching—always searching—for the flower that could not die.

When storms broke and wars split the land, she did not lift her weapon. Instead, she knelt. Her wings opened wide, not as a shield but as a shroud, letting amaranth petals fall around the fallen. Her song was wordless, her blindfold wet with tears unseen. And still the earth listened. From each place she touched, flowers rose that would not wither, no matter the frost, no matter the flame.

The Elves call her The Eternal Bloom, humans name her The Mourner in Gold, but in the oldest tongue she is simply Amaranda, the Unfading.

The tale says she still kneels in hidden fields at the edge of night, blindfolded, her wings casting sparks of dawn into the dark. And when a child finds a single amaranth petal upon their windowsill, it is her gift, a reminder:

that innocence may fall, beauty may weep, but some things, love... memory... light... cannot die.

Baptized with a perfect name
The doubting one by heart
Alone without himself
War between him and the day
Need someone to blame
In the end, little he can do alone

You believe, but what you see
You receive, but what you give

Caress the one, the never-fading rain in your heart
The tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth in a land
Of the daybreak

Apart from the wandering pack
In this brief flight of time
We reach for the ones who ever dare

You believe, but what you see
You receive, but what you give

Caress the one, the never-fading rain in your heart
The tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth in a land
Of the daybreak

Caress the one, the never-fading rain in your heart
The tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth in a land
Of the daybreak

Reaching, searching for something untouched
Hearing voices of the never-fading calling (Calling, calling)

Caress the one, the never-fading rain in your heart
The tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth in a land
Of the daybreak

Caress the one, the never-fading rain in your heart (Caress the one)
The tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth in a land (Save me)
Of the daybreak (Daybreak)
