A Song of Passion and Flame

Dragons - 2025

2025 was a year of transformation in my art, and you can see that especially in my dragons, perhaps more than any of my other regular subjects. This page lets you watch that journey unfold.

At the start of the year and into the spring, the pieces lean toward a more painterly, illustrative feel, with color and form guiding the designs. As you move through the months, you can see my visual language begin to shift, especially starting in April and May when the first floral-infused dragons appear. Those early floral dragons are playful and exploratory, a first step toward something richer and more intentional.

By June and beyond, the emergence of what I now call my Elysian Enchanted Realism becomes unmistakable. Into the summer, and even more so in the fall, the flowers and environments grow more thoughtfully composed, palettes become more refined, and lighting and texture take on greater complexity. This isn’t just about adding detail, but about gaining control over how each element interacts, how the blooms feel alive within the scene, and how the dragons themselves become more vivid and tangible.

From January through the end of May, I was using Bing as my image generator, which works by producing batches of images at once. You can see that reflected in some of the earlier work, where variations cluster closely together and I was often unable to decide which was best so I went with multiples. In June I switched to ChatGPT, which limits me to generating one image at a time and gives me much finer control over prompts, including pose, flower placement, and environmental details, with less of the random chaos Bing is prone to. That change helped sharpen my decision-making and is part of why the variations become more pronounced and intentional as the year goes on.

So what you’ll see here is both a chronological record and a visual evolution of a style finding its truest expression.
