In the last few months of his life Shams - who was normally very possessive of me with the other cats - began letting Butters hang out with us, and recently Butters has decided I'm his person now. No cat can truly be replaced - each of my cats has a very unique, individual personality, and Shams will always hold a special place in my heart - but I'm very grateful for Butters stepping up to offer me his companionship, I would be doing a lot worse without it. I'm pretty sure Shams "told" him, in the way cats do, to look out for me.

[Yes, Butters was named for the kid on South Park 🤣]
