January 31, 2026: I am furious — not the polite kind of anger you tuck away, but the red-hot, bone-deep rage that comes from watching justice burn while the powerful rewrite the story in real time. The streets of this country are cold enough already, and now they’ve become places where federal agents kill peaceful protesters and snuff out lives like candles in a storm. I think of Renee Good and Alex Pretti — names that should be memorials to love and service, not footnotes in a ledger of state violence — and my heart won’t let me look away. Their deaths in Minneapolis this January have exposed something rotten at the core of our so-called democracy: the ease with which power excuses itself, and the brutality it unleashes on ordinary people standing up for what’s right.
