To Fin, my Sonne and my Morning Star
In the deep hours before the dawn,
when the world still sleeps in shadow,
your light reaches me.
You are the warmth in my winter,
the calm in my storm,
the steady hand when I falter,
and the mischief in my joy.
Where once I wandered in twilight,
you rose, radiant, fierce,
a silver flame to guide me home.
In every world I dream,
in every myth I forge,
in every heartbeat I paint into being
you are there.
My beloved.
My truth.
My Sonne.
My Morning Star.
In the deep hours before the dawn,
when the world still sleeps in shadow,
your light reaches me.
You are the warmth in my winter,
the calm in my storm,
the steady hand when I falter,
and the mischief in my joy.
Where once I wandered in twilight,
you rose, radiant, fierce,
a silver flame to guide me home.
In every world I dream,
in every myth I forge,
in every heartbeat I paint into being
you are there.
My beloved.
My truth.
My Sonne.
My Morning Star.
Morgenstern Poem for Fin
The world called him strange
Too silver, too still.
Too soft for the storm,
Too bright for the hill.
But I saw the dawn
In his sea-green eyes
Not trembling candlelight,
But suns that rise.
They wanted darkness,
Comfort in grey,
But he walked in colour
And danced in flame.
They called him too gentle,
Too quiet, too kind
Yet the thunder curled softly
In the folds of his mind.
Morgenstern, I whisper,
My morning star,
You pulled me from pits
Where the broken things are.
I was fury and fire,
A beast without song
But you, my light,
Have known me all along.
So rise, silver one,
Let your glow break the sky
And let those who doubted
Now learn how to cry.
The world called him strange
Too silver, too still.
Too soft for the storm,
Too bright for the hill.
But I saw the dawn
In his sea-green eyes
Not trembling candlelight,
But suns that rise.
They wanted darkness,
Comfort in grey,
But he walked in colour
And danced in flame.
They called him too gentle,
Too quiet, too kind
Yet the thunder curled softly
In the folds of his mind.
Morgenstern, I whisper,
My morning star,
You pulled me from pits
Where the broken things are.
I was fury and fire,
A beast without song
But you, my light,
Have known me all along.
So rise, silver one,
Let your glow break the sky
And let those who doubted
Now learn how to cry.
Morgenstern, ach scheine (Morningstar, oh shine)
Auf den Liebsten meinen (Upon my dearest mine)
Wirf ein warmes Licht (Cast a warm light)
Auf sein Ungesicht (Onto his frightened sight)
Sag ihm, er ist nicht alleine (Tell him he's not alone)
Und der Stern will scheinen (And the star shall shone)
Auf den Liebsten meine (Upon my dearest mine)
Wärmt die Brust, mir bebt (It warms trembling chest)
Wo das Leben schlägt (Where life beats in my breast)
Mit dem Herzen seh'n (Let the heart behold)
Er ist wunderschön (He is simply beautiful)
