NARCOLEPTICONATICA
Step into a sanctuary where moonlit creatures drift through prismatic glades, where falling stars tuck themselves in, and where every sleepy beast embodies the sacred truth:
The Universe, too, gets tired.
This is not “just wallpaper.”
This is not “just cute animals.”
This is NARCOLEPTICONATICA™.
My hush. My trance. My signature.
Stay cozy. More dream-creatures are on the way — softer, gentler, sleepier.
And when they arrive, you’ll know immediately:
It’s NARCOLEPTICONATICA™ --
and it’s Fin.
Context: There was (and still is) a person on DeviantArt who goes by Brian—among other aliases, across multiple accounts—who thinks rather a lot of himself. He once posted a since-deleted intro to a grand, over-the-top series called OBLIVIONATICA™ about rock star angels complete with cosmic self-importance and a condescending swipe at other artists… despite the work itself being, frankly, dull and mid and looking like everything everyone else does.
So NARCOLEPTICONATICA™ was born: a lovingly unserious series of adorable animals driven to sleep by boring art, while sprouting impossible, luminous flowers in my signature style. What started as low-key satire directed at someone who started shit first (sending me harassing comments and messages and enabling/encouraging one of my biggest bullies and art thieves), unexpectedly became a favorite before I left DA, and I kept going after I left because… honestly, who can resist cozy, sleeping, floral creatures?
I still have a ridiculous amount of fun making these. No grandiosity required. Just naps. 💤🌷
