A Song of Passion and Flame

Nemo

Nemo has been a deeply personal song for me for a long time. For me it has always been about working through the crappy things that happen in life- and there were plenty- walking through it, and eventually naming your fears, demons, and pain.

And so I have given it a narrative, inspired by the lyrics and how I feel about the song.

"The Name Beneath the Rain"

There was once a man who lost his name.
Not in the way that stories often say—with swords and kings and magic—but in the slow, gray way the world can take things from you.
He could not remember the moment it slipped away.
Only that one morning, he looked into a mirror and saw someone waiting to exist.

And so, he walked.

Not to escape—he’d tried that. Not to be found—he didn’t want to be. But because there was nothing else left to do.

The rain fell soft. Not cruel. Not cleansing. Just… constant. A weight he didn’t fight. The kind of rain that speaks not in thunder, but in gentle persistence. Flowers bloomed beside the path, small and violet, growing in the cracks of his silence.

---

In the forests, he passed by the things he could not yet name.
Grief, curled at the base of a tree like a sleeping animal.
Shame, whispering beneath the leaves.
Fear, following two steps behind.

He did not stop.
He did not run.
He simply walked.

---

One day, the rain turned gold. Not because he had changed—but because he had kept going. And in that light, he saw something strange.

A figure, kneeling in the flowers, holding every wound he thought he had hidden.
He looked closer.
And saw himself.

Kneeling in the rain.
Hands full of violets.
Eyes open.
Mouth forming the words he’d never spoken aloud.

“I remember what you are.
And I forgive you.”

---

The name returned, not in a flash, but in the slow hush of breath.
It wasn’t carved in stone or thundered from the sky.
It came quietly.

In the way the path no longer blurred in the distance.
In the way the flowers grew where he stepped.
In the way his shadow stood beside him without shame.

---

He was not nameless.
He had simply needed to walk through the forgetting.

And when the snow finally fell, it did not bury him.
It crowned him.

This is me for forever
One of the lost ones
The one without a name
Without an honest heart as compass
This is me for forever
One without a name
These lines, the last endeavor
To find the missing lifeline

Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope, I'd give my everything

My flower, withered between
The pages two and three
The once and forever bloom gone with my sins
Walk the dark path
Sleep with angels
Call the past for help
Touch me with your love
And reveal to me my true name

Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope, I'd give my everything

Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo, my name forevermore

Nemo sailing home
Nemo letting go

Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope, I'd give my everything

Oh, how I wish
For soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo, my name forevermore

Name forevermore
