Sacred
in the cathedral
of my trembling heart, you light
candles with your gaze--
incense curls from whispered prayers
written on the walls of skin.
stained glass breaks open,
showering us in bruised gold,
violet and crimson--
your hands chart forgotten psalms
on the sanctum of my thighs.
each breath a relic,
each kiss an offered reliquary;
your mouth, a chalice,
drinking blessed nectar
from the altar of my longing.
we are holy things,
unknowable, unashamed,
sacred in our flesh--
you press your devotion into me,
anointed in starlight and flame.
in this temple built
of scars made radiant glass,
we name each other--
worship stitched in searching palms,
a liturgy of becoming.
of my trembling heart, you light
candles with your gaze--
incense curls from whispered prayers
written on the walls of skin.
stained glass breaks open,
showering us in bruised gold,
violet and crimson--
your hands chart forgotten psalms
on the sanctum of my thighs.
each breath a relic,
each kiss an offered reliquary;
your mouth, a chalice,
drinking blessed nectar
from the altar of my longing.
we are holy things,
unknowable, unashamed,
sacred in our flesh--
you press your devotion into me,
anointed in starlight and flame.
in this temple built
of scars made radiant glass,
we name each other--
worship stitched in searching palms,
a liturgy of becoming.
