Secret Journey
I've been a fan of Sting and The Police back since I was a smol in the 80s. Most people think first of classics like “Every Breath You Take” or “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”—and to be fair, those songs are great. But the one that ultimately spoke to me the most was never the biggest hit. My favorite Police song is “Secret Journey,” which I didn’t even discover until adulthood.
Something about the lyrics landed with a strange sense of recognition, like a map I hadn’t known I needed. Across the images, different versions of me—from younger selves to the person I am now—encounter my Higher Self and learn from him, and ultimately finding my soulmate Andy when I am in a better place in my life. Each meeting is a step toward balance, stability, and understanding, reflecting the long process of integrating the lessons of a life lived. It’s the quiet, lifelong work of becoming whole.
