A Song of Passion and Flame

Solemn Days

Some days are not for celebration. Some days ask us to pause, to remember, and to sit with grief that does not disappear simply because the calendar moves forward. Our Solemn Days page gathers the works we create for moments of mourning — communal and personal alike.

Here you will find art made in remembrance of Yom HaShoah, the Jewish day of Holocaust remembrance; the 24th of Tishrei, when we mourn the lives taken in the October 7th massacre; and our own private losses, including the Yahrzeit (the annual remembrance of a death) of Shams z”l.

In Jewish tradition, remembrance is active. These pieces are offerings of witness and love — a way of saying that those who are gone are not erased, that grief is honored, and that memory itself is sacred work.
