A Song of Passion and Flame

The Great Carriage Catastrophe [October 2025]
Being an Account of Autumnal Adventures, Equine Outbursts, and One Very Handsome Argument

Autumn in the countryside was, in theory, a tranquil affair, golden light, crisp air, and the soft rustle of leaves. In practice, it was two elegantly dressed men arguing over whose idea it had been to take the scenic route.

“I maintain,” said Fin, his silver hair perfectly unruffled despite the wind, “that you were the one who said, ‘It’ll be charming, Fin, nothing ever goes wrong in the woods.’”

Andy flicked the reins with suspicious confidence. “And it is charming. Look at all this atmosphere! Look at these horses! Look at us, we’re practically the cover of a romance novel.”

One of the horses snorted as if to agree. The other sneezed directly onto Fin’s sleeve.

“Ah yes,” Fin said dryly, dabbing delicately at the spot with a handkerchief embroidered with frankly unnecessary finesse, “the height of romantic imagery.”

Andy chuckled, flashing that grin that had gotten them both into and out of far too many situations. “You love it. Admit it.”

Fin side-eyed him, lips twitching. “I love you, which is frankly not the same thing as loving your driving.”

Before Andy could reply with something suitably smug, the carriage hit a bump. Both men jolted, Andy swore, Fin clutched his seat, and a cascade of orange leaves rained down like nature’s applause.

They landed disheveled but laughing, faces close, the forest spinning in golden blur around them.

“See?” Andy murmured, soft but teasing. “Told you it’d be an adventure.”

Fin’s smile turned wickedly fond. “You’re lucky you’re handsome, Lightning Lord. Otherwise, I’d have set this entire forest on fire by now.”

“Good thing I’m naturally flame-resistant.”

Fin leaned closer, his Star of David pendant catching the sun. “We’ll test that theory later.”

As the carriage rolled on beneath the autumn canopy, the horses steady and the air thick with laughter, one thing was certain: wherever they went, chaos followed, and so did love.
